EFKA’s online platform for the electronic submission of insurance category selection applications is now operational.
By visiting the website https://www.efka.gov.gr/epilego/ until Friday, March 13, 2020 and following the provided instructions, freelancers, self-employed individuals, and farmers will be able to submit their application and choose their desired insurance category by following the steps below.

- Is the selection of an insurance category mandatory?
Yes, it is mandatory. If you do not select an insurance category, you will be automatically classified into the first (1st) insurance category. Of course, with the new system, you have the option to choose a category for each year of your insurance.
- What should I do and by when to choose an insurance category?

- What applies to new professionals?
New professionals (freelancers or self-employed individuals) can choose the special insurance category for new insured persons and remain in it for their first five years of insurance. You also have the option to choose a category higher than the special one.
- What are the provisions for non-salaried individuals with parallel insurance?
With the new insurance system, freelancers, self-employed individuals, and farmers pay only one contribution, even in the case of parallel insurance. The calculation of the contribution varies according to four (4) special cases, details of which you can see here.
- How often and in what way are contributions paid?
Contributions are monthly and are paid by the last working day of the following month. Payments continue to be made at all Banks and ELTA (Hellenic Post), through the Interbank System (DIAS), with payment orders or direct debit (standing order).

- Your classification into one of these categories is done by free choice after submitting a relevant application.
- Flexibility is offered to you through the option of annual insurance category change.
- There is a special provision for farmers and new professionals-freelancers or self-employed individuals.
- There is a new approach to parallel insurance through the determination of a minimum contribution amount resulting from the sum of contributions for salaried and non-salaried employment, and the option to optionally pay higher contributions.
- A new maximum contribution limit is set.
- The concept of insurance planning is introduced through the shaping of pensionable earnings.

It is reminded that with the press release from the Ministry of Labor dated February 26, 2020, it was announced that after the completion of the category selection process, e-EFKA will post the new notices for January 2020 contributions on March 16, which must be paid by Friday, March 20.
